Property Building in Hyatt Place New York City/Times Square
- Location: the hotel is located in the middle of the Garment District, from where you can reach a lot of sights at a walking distance. Everything further afield can be reached perfectly from the 42nd street subway stations (Times Square, Port Authority, Bryant Park) (about an 8 minute walk) - Staff: The staff has been very nice and accommodating throughout. They printed out a form for me and always helped us with any other questions we had. - Room: The size of our room (1020) was adequate. Since there was a small hallway (L-shaped) leading into the room, we were able to store our suitcases there. The shower is good and sufficiently large, the bed comfortable. There is a small refrigerator (empty), in which you can cool self-bought drinks. Furthermore there is a safe, a hair dryer, a large mirror and a large tv with HBO and the possibility to connect your phone via Chromecast. - Other: There was a water dispenser on our floor where you could fill up your water bottles for the day or get ice cubes. At peak times there were waiting times in front of the elevators (there are four of it). Therefore, the recommendation is to get in even if there are already people in or they go up first. Once you're in, you're in ;) Overall, however, it was usually fast. We were 12 days in the hotel and have taken the stairs four times in that time (from the 10th floor down was no problem). From the 26th and highest floor, of course, it can be annoying. The WiFi was good as well. - Breakfast: The breakfast is okay. The coffee from Starbucks is delicious, the available tea as well. Otherwise, there is water, apple juice, orange juice and milk. There is cereal, breakfast flakes, mostly cut fruit, apples (in foil), waffles, bagels, toast, muffins and boiled eggs (in foil). At peak times it can get very crowded, but we always found a seat somewhere and never had to wait for a seat. - Gym: the gym is located in the basement and is well equipped.

In general, finding a hotel in New York is a challenge. Choosing an area also requires careful knowledge of the city. Choice is always a matter of compromise, there are things you learn on the spot. If I had to travel and choose a new location now, I would prefer a hotel closer to Lower Manhattan. A little more comes the intrusive for the European smell of a joint that floats around Times Square, as well as the clustering of many homeless people in this area. However, if proximity to public communications is important, the location of the hotel is very good. The rooms are not big but sufficient, there is no big wardrobe but there is an iron and ironing board. The beds are big and very comfortable. Cleaning is daily and maintained to a good standard. The staff is polite and very helpful. The breakfast is very good by American standards (no vegetables) but monotonous. However, there are enough tasty things to eat well. You should go on time, not during the peak hours around 8.00. I find the price/quality ratio excellent. I especially want to express my gratitude to the management of the hotel for the correctness. They refunded the full value of our canceled reservation during the time of COVID-19. One reason to choose the same hotel again.

We chose to stay here as the price and location were perfect, although the reviews were mixed we decided to take a chance and we were so glad we did! The hotel is a stones throw from Times Square, Bryant park, Madison Square Garden and Fifth Avenue. Our room super clean, although it was small this is expected in New York however it was perfect for 2 of us but just bare in mind the size if you have lots of bags (we had 2 small carry on cases and a 25kg check in case and it was just enough room). Many of the reviews speak about the queues for the elevators however we only found ourselves waiting for one on 2-3 occasions and it was no longer than a minute or 2 wait which was absolutely fine. I can’t say the same for the breakfast queues as we did not make use of this service and decided to do our own thing in the city, however when passing through the lobby the queue didn’t appear to be overly long. The staff that we dealt with personally were super friendly and made sure we were looked after.

The location was fantastic, a lot of people will tell you not to stay in Midtown Manhattan but it was the best decision I think I've ever made. We were located close to times square but not so close that it was loud and crazy outside. There were many food options so close to the hotel but with the lovely included breakfast we didn't need to use them often. The beds were very comfy and the room was so clean. The view was pretty cool, we had about 25% of a view which is more than we can ask for given the location. The empire state building was also visible.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, we explored the city walking and it was always a great place to come back to, with amazing restaurants nearby. The staff was lovely and very helpful. Also really enjoyed the view and the room wasn't too small (considering it was a triple room and it's NYC). Finally, the breakfast was a surprise, as it's very complete and w/ a lot of elements prepared in the morning (not just packed items).
